PROJECT TYPE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Catholic Charities of Maryland
Baltimore, Maryland
This client was looking for expert assistance in developing programming for a new community space within the Cherry Hill shopping center redevelopment project in Baltimore.
Ensuring this project met the needs and priorities of diverse community stakeholders was vital. Working with neighborhood organizations and residents, Rebecca Murphy developed a plan for shared use of an approximately 1000 sq ft space in the soon-to-be-redeveloped shopping center.
Her plan incorporated multiple community uses, including events, education programs, and business development opportunities. The design of the space would permit local entrepreneurs to host pop-up shopping events. A semi-permanent space was also allotted for a coffee shop and a food co-operative to provide local residents with access to more and healthier food options within what had for years been a food desert.
RCM Strategic Consulting delivered a utilization plan for the space and draft rendering that represented the full array of community perspectives and needs.
